“If I Were There, I Would Have Kicked Them” – Bosz Furious Over Showboating
PSV Eindhoven manager Peter Bosz has publicly criticized his players for their lack of respect towards Liverpool during their recent UEFA Champions League clash.
📌 What Happened?
PSV pulled off a stunning 3-2 comeback victory over Liverpool on Wednesday, securing a spot in the Champions League knockout play-off round by finishing 14th in the standings with 14 points.
However, Liverpool played the final minutes of the match with ten men after Amara Nallo was sent off in the 87th minute. With the numerical advantage, PSV players started showboating, performing unnecessary tricks, backheel passes, and rondo-style play.
Their behavior infuriated Bosz, who did not hold back his emotions in the post-match interview.
🎙️ What Did Peter Bosz Say?
The Dutch coach did not mince words when addressing his team’s antics:
🗣 “In my opinion, it was terrible, and it really annoyed me. We shouldn’t do that. They played some sort of rondo, along with no-look passes and backheels. If I were there, I would have kicked them below the knees.”
He continued:
🔹 “We must not engage in such things. What happened was disrespectful to the opponent. I didn’t talk to them after the game, but I will. I love entertaining the fans, but in a completely different way.”
Despite his anger over the unnecessary showboating, Bosz was still pleased with his team’s overall performance and their ability to fight back against Liverpool.
🗣 “I watched the match with great pleasure. I fully understand that Liverpool was not at its best and lacked some key players, but there was a lot of quality on the field.”
🗣 “We tried to play at our best against them, and I hope we succeeded. Things were going very well, although there are still some areas that need improvement.”
🏆 Champions League Standings: Where Do Liverpool & PSV Stand?
🔴 Liverpool finished first in their group with 21 points, waiting for the play-off results between Monaco, Brest, PSG, and Benfica to determine their Round of 16 opponent.
🔵 PSV Eindhoven finished 14th and will face either Juventus or Feyenoord in the play-off round. If they progress, they could meet Inter Milan or Arsenal in the Round of 16.
📊 Final Thoughts: Was Bosz Right to Be Angry?
Peter Bosz’s frustration is understandable—while confidence is good, disrespecting an opponent like Liverpool is unnecessary and could backfire in future matches.
